For the team in the "Explore the New Forest" office, the perfect
way to start the New Year, is a crisp walk in the New Forest - time away from
the trappings of Christmas, and time to think about giving thanks to the wonderful
area known as the New Forest.
As the leaves create a golden woodland which crunch under foot, the wind lifts the swirls around the enclosures in an enticing dance, and at the same time making it easier to see deep into the woodland to spot the odd herd of New Forest Deer. This is a great time of year to spot the little details, dress for the weather, but take the time to have a detailed look at your surroundings, there are a large number of toadstools, mushrooms and fungus growing on the forest floor waiting for you to discover.
If you are looking to make an extended stay then there are many establishments on the Waterside (Hythe), at Beaulieu, Brockenhurst and Lymington would offer great accommodation. Choose from Bed and Breakfast's, Self Catering, Hotels and campsites.
